An Alumni Group and Their #myFraternity Story

ROLLA, MISSOURI – “We all agree that it is less about where we are and what weā€™re doing and a lot more about the company we keep ā€“ and it all started at Sig Tau.”

A special “band of brothers” from the Alpha Omega Chapter from what is now Missouri S&T, continue their #myFraternity bonds well after their collegiate days. This group of men vary in age and graduation dates from roughlyĀ 1965 to 1975, and have managed to stay in touch over the years Many of the men settled in St. Louis with their families – which have now grown close themselves.

Salvatore Pagano, aĀ  1970 initiate, explained that in 2007, following the passing of one beloved brother, and the cancer diagnosis of another brother, the group decided to start traveling together. In 2008, the group traveled to Napa, CA with a group of roughly 20. Because the trip was so memorable, the group decided to travel together every two years to a new location.

Over the years, the group has been to Tampa Bay, FL; Morrow Bay, CA;Ā  Yellowstone National Park; and Acadia. Shortly after the Acadia trip, a brother of the group passed away, “impressing the importance of these trips”, Pagano said. The trips continue to grow in size. From an early trip consisting of 14 people to a recent trip to Glacier, Waterton and Banff National Parks consisting of 57 attendees, there are more and more brothers signing up each time.

“Everyone, including the wives, will tell you that the bond between the people in this group is unique and very special even after all the years.Ā  While we try to pick new and fun places to experience, we all agree that it is less about where we are and what weā€™re doing and a lot more about the company we keep ā€“ and it all started at Sig Tau.”
