Grand Conclave Spotlight – Standards Board Track

Published on April 19, 2018 in News, Press Releases

PHOENIX, ARIZONA – You gave us feedback, and we listened. At Webb Academy in January, many brothers voiced that Standards Board Chairmen desired the opportunity to experience comprehensive training. To provide the highly requested training, an educational track dedicated to Standards Board Chairmen has been developed and will be offered at Grand Conclave Phoenix in June.

The Standards Boards exists to implement the standards, policies, constitution, and laws of the Fraternity at both a national and chapter level. The chapter elects the Standards Board Chairman to lead the Standards Board, which serves as an unbiased, peer-based board composed of members of the undergraduate chapter.

This track is offered to undergraduates who are the current Standards Board Chairman for their chapter or associate chapter. This track will offer an in-depth review of Standards Board procedures and policies and their implementation. Highlights of the track will include various role-playing scenarios, understanding educational sanctions, and learning the best practices for operating an effective and efficient board.

“This track will give Standards Board Chairmen the opportunity to realize their purpose, set goals, ask need-to-know questions, familiarize themselves with the standards process from start to finish, and analyze their own chapter before creating a plan to build and maintain a safe chapter culture,” Leadership Development Coordinator, Ben Nelson, Washington State said. “I expect chairmen who attend this track will walk away fully confident in their ability to help keep their brothers safe and their peers accountable, and I am excited to present this new opportunity!”
