About the Chapter
The Lambda Associate Chapter of Sigma Tau Gamma at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota, is one of Sig Tau’s newest chapters. The chapter began in 1928 with 11 Founding Fathers. The chapter became an Associate Chapter once again in fall 2015.
- It was two past presidents of the Lambda Chapter who formed the Spearfish Historical Society
- The Lambda Chapter nearly dissolved in 1944 due to WWII
The Lambda Chapter of Sigma Tau Gamma was installed in 1928 as the first fraternity organization on the Black Hills State University campus. The chapter dissolved in the late 1990s and was re-established in 2015 by the current President, Jason Schneider. The chapter enhances their brotherhood experience by doing many outdoor activities and is made up of many majors across the college.
