Get to know 41st National President Jeremy Daus, UW – River Falls
Officially accepting the gavel at the conclusion of the House of Delegates this summer at Grand Conclave Kansas City, Brother Jeremy Daus, UW – River Falls, will travel to his first Earl A. Webb Academy of Principled Leaders later this week as national president. Before meeting with chapter officers this weekend, we sat down to ask Jeremy about the impact Sig Tau has had on his life.
Q: What is your favorite part of the Sig Tau Brotherhood?
A: Meeting new members and seeing the impact that Sig Tau has had on them. I’ve been fortunate to be part of this organization for 27 years, and it never gets old giving a Brother I just met the Grip and have that connection with them.
Q: Why are you proud to say you are a brother of Sig Tau?
A: I feel so fortunate to have had the experience I’ve had from when I was associated until I was installed as National President. I sometimes cannot believe my luck in finding this group of men who have had such an impact upon me, and it makes me proud that I get to choose, every day, to emulate my Sig Tau heroes and serve the needs of members yet to come.
Q: As you think back to when you were an undergraduate, what made you want to join Sig Tau?
A: Geoff Johnson and Lam Truong were THE reason I joined. The chapter (including them) was the reason I stayed. It was welcoming, they were the leaders across campus, and guys were involved in everything. We had a smart, diverse, and fun group of guys, and I realized I was so much better as part of this group than I was on my own.
Q: What do you enjoy doing during your free time?
A: I’m an outdoor kind of guy…mostly now spending time with our 5-year-old, getting him to the outdoor life. We mountain bike, ski, and do all sorts of things together (with my wife too).
Q: What is your favorite movie or tv show?
A: I’m old…so let’s be honest, it’s probably typical…but I’m a fan of the James Bond franchise. My father and I watch them, and we know all the old ones by heart.
Q: Who is your favorite musical artist?
A: Lately, I’ve really been into Trampled by Turtles.
Q: What wise words do you have for undergraduates as they begin to serve in their officer role?
A: Seek out honest feedback and listen to that feedback. Get feedback from your Greek Life office, advisors, past chapter officers, and other mentors…anywhere. The sooner you realize that feedback is a gift, the more you’ll be prepared for life after college.
