Sports and Sig Taus

Published on September 23, 2019 in News

Sig Taus and sports have been linked since our founding. Several of the 17 Founders found themselves on varsity sports teams at the University of Central Missouri. Dan Fisher was a catcher on the local semi-pro baseball team before enrolling in Warrensburg where he played on the varsity basketball team. Founder Billings was offered a contract to play for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Our membership has included some of the greats from athletes, officials, and coaches including Robert “Red” Miller, Western Illinois, Super Bowl Winning NFL Head Coach; Dick Hantak, Southeast Missouri, Super Bowl NFL Official; Gil Morgan, East Central, inductee into the Professional Golf Hall of Fame; and Stan “The Man” Musial, Cal U.

Do you have photos of you and your brothers playing sports, raising the championship trophy, or attending your favorite team’s games? Send them to noblemen@sigtau.org
