COLLEGE PARK, MARYLAND – On Friday, April 5, the Eta Lambda Associate Chapter was installed at the University of Maryland. The next afternoon on Saturday, April 6, 11 Founding Fathers were initiated into Sig Tau.

The 11 men are involved in a wide variety of areas on campus and the community including club sports, Student Government, TEDxUMD, Terp Thon, Special Olympics, and Student Alumni Leadership Council.

The Associate Chapter Installation was attended by parents, University Staff, IFC and Panhellenic chapter members, friends, and 36 National President Richard Harguindeguy, Northland. To wrap up the exciting weekend, the brothers held a chapter retreat Sunday.

“The reason I knew Sig Tau was the right choice for me was because of the Principles and pillars that this fraternity stands on. It has given me the platform to create something special here on campus, especially for college men who want to be noble gentlemen for years to come,” Abbas Yarali, Director of Member and Community Engagement said. “I’m looking forward to contributing so much to this campus and community and showing people that this fraternity is here to make a positive impact for not only the University of Maryland, but College Park altogether. My brothers and I are all looking forward to what Sig Tau is going to do for this school, and for us as well.”

The Eta Lambda Chapter is now the 179th Chapter in Sig Tau’s almost 99-year history. The chapter now joins Frostburg and Salisbury as the third chapter in the state of Maryland.
