The Honor of National White Rose Sweetheart

Published on June 13, 2017 in News, Press Releases

“She wears the badge of Sigma Tau, she’s the sweetest flower that grows. She’s Sigma Tau’s own sweetheart, she’s Sigma Tau’s own Rose”.

These words of “The Rose of Sigma Tau” were sung in unison by 500 Sig Tau gentlemen as they centered their focus on the new 2016-2017 National White Rose. Only moments before, the room was drawn to silence with anticipation, and waves of nervousness came over the three finalists.  Only one deserving woman would be given the honor of being Sigma Tau Gamma’s National White Rose.

Last June, Jamie Yust, Central Missouri, Alpha Omicron Pi, was crowned National White Rose Sweetheart.

“Attending Grand Chapter in Orlando was an experience I will never forget,” said Yust. “I remember being surrounded by the men of the Alpha Chapter and thinking how grateful I was to have this experience and to call these noble gentlemen some of my best friends.”

Since Grand Chapter, Yust has continued her relationship with Sigma Tau Gamma by joining the Headquarters Staff in 2016. Yust worked on staff as Archives Coordinator and Administrative Assistant until she graduated from the University of Central Missouri this past May.

Yust will be attending this year’s Endeavor Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota to pass on her title.

“Being involved with Sigma Tau Gamma has given and taught me so much through the years, and I cannot wait to attend Endeavor and meet this year’s finalists.”

The three finalists for this year’s National White Rose Sweetheart are Abigail Greenberg, Alabama; Micaela O’Bryan, Pittsburg State; and Ariana Vallejo, Arizona State.

Abigail Greenberg, Alabama

Abigail is a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Her involvement includes Student Government Association, Order of Omega, and Mortar Board Honor Society. As a co-founder of a Greek Service Fraternity (Alpha Mu Omega), she is very committed to bettering the world around her.

Micaela O’Bryan, Pittsburg State

Micaela is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She has managed to maintain a 4.0 GPA while serving on multiple committees within her chapter, a member of the Presidential Emerging Leadership Program, and the Homecoming Planning Committee.

Ariana Vallejo, Arizona State

Ariana is a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She is a member of her chapter’s executive board and is heavily involved in Dance Marathon, a philanthropy event that raises money for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

This week at Endeavor Minneapolis, one of these three finalists will be presented as the 2017-2018 National White Rose Sweetheart.
