Day Departs HQ Staff

WARRENSBURG, MO – Associate Director of HQ Operations, Rick Day, Illinois, has announced he will be departing the Sigma Tau Gamma Headquarters Staff. Day is taking a new position as the Program Manager at CROYA in Lake Forest, Illinois.

CROYA is an acronym for “Committee Representing Our Young Adults.” Since 1980, CROYA has been charged with attending to the social and psychological needs of the young adults of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff. It provides a supportive atmosphere where students can identify their needs and create structured programs that build confidence and self-esteem, develop leadership skills, and act as a referral to resources for peers whose needs are beyond their control.

Day reflects on his time on the HQ staff, “The past three years working for Sigma Tau Gamma Headquarters has been an incredibly enriching experience. Working with such a talented team and for so many outstanding undergraduate and alumni members is something I wouldn’t have traded for the world. I am sad to be departing but am grateful that Sig Tau has given me the skills to work for another great organization, and am excited to continue to give back to the fraternity as a volunteer. “

Since joining Staff on June 16, 2014, Brother Day has held numerous responsibilities which include recruiting members at Washington State and leading recruitment efforts at Lindenwood-Belleville; ongoing coaching with several chapters including UW-Stout; planning chartering banquets; conducting associate chapter and chartering retreats. In 2016, Rick was promoted to Associate Director of HQ Operations and oversaw IT support and the implementation of new communication systems, managing the White Rose Pavilion, overseeing archive preservation, but perhaps his most significant achievement was the creation and development of the new Sig Tau Marketplace which included product development, sales, and a new online merchandise website.

Vanessa Ryan, Director of WPN Housing & HQ Operations, said Day has been an ideal HQ Staff member. “Rick has been a true asset to the Sig Tau staff. His care and commitment to the organization, as an HQ Staff member, will be missed. I am confident Rick will continue his success in his new role.”

“Rick will long be remembered for his contributions to Sigma Tau Gamma. I know that his time on Staff will only be a footnote of his longtime involvement and commitment to the Fraternity. I am so grateful to have had Rick’s help as I navigated my role these past three years. His departure as our most tenured staff member will be noticeable. I am so proud of his accomplishments here and cannot wait to see where his role with CROYA takes him next,” said Sigma Tau Gamma CEO Steve Latour.

Day’s last day with Headquarters is May 12, 2017.
