Oldest Member of The Society of the Seventeen Enters the Chapter Eternal

CARMEL, INDIANA – Sigma Tau Gamma Headquarters has learned that W. Warren Barberg, UW-Stout ’51, has passed on to Chapter Eternal.

Brother Barberg was the last living member of the original founding class of the iconic Society of the Seventeen. He previously served the Fraternity as its 10th National  President and as the 1st President of the Sigma Tau Gamma Foundation. Additionally, he was appointed by his alma mater as Chairman of the Stout State College Foundation. A savvy and accomplished businessman, Warren was the owner of the Barberg Real Estate Development Company based in his hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and a General Agent for the Equitable Insurance Company, having achieved the coveted CLU designation. He is survived by his beautiful wife Doreen, three children and many grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 20th from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Chippewa Valley Church, 1805 Goff Ave, Eau Claire, WI 54701.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 21st at the same location, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am and a light lunch following the service.

Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta is assisting the family.
