On Saturday March 9, Sigma Tau Gamma reinstalled the Theta provisional chapter at Northwest Missouri State University.  The Theta provisional chapter welcomed many friends, family members, alumni and campus professionals to attend the event that included several ceremonies, a retreat and a pizza party with much enthusiasm and celebration.

Headquarters staff and alumni visited Northwest Missouri State University this past winter to prepare for the spring expansion efforts. During their visit, they met with the Northwest Missouri State Greek Life Staff and members of the Fraternity and Sorority community. The Fraternity and university entered into a partnership to reopen the Theta provisional chapter with a strong focus on Fraternal values and a commitment to future alcohol-free housing.

In early meetings with the university, it was clear this project would require a great effort by staff and alumni,” said Director of Chapter Development Addison Schopp. “Having seen the initial results, I am confident our new provisional chapter will be a strong addition to the Northwest Missouri State Fraternity community.

Chapter Development Counselors Alex Williams and Josh Floyd returned in January and began the on-campus recruitment efforts. Their efforts attracted the top men on campus. Many of the new members are involved with the Dean’s List, varsity sports teams and campus clubs, Campus Ministry groups, Hall Council, Student Senate, Eagle Scouts, ROTC, National Guard, academic Honor Societies and Student Ambassadors.

Theta provisional chapter Founding Chapter President Austin Okorn, said, I have met so many new and inspirational men that I am proud to call my brothers. I am proud to be a member of such a great Fraternity that has a strong foundation with potential to influence the university, student body and community.

The program was lead by the Installation Team: Josh Floyd, Alex Williams, Mississippi Valley District Director Bobby Slater and Addison Schopp. Theta alumnus Terry Day lead the Installation Ceremony and spoke to the men about a positive future for the Theta provisional chapter and a strong commitment from many Theta alumni.  Day is finalizing membership of the Alumni Advising Board that will provide mentorship for chapter affairs. After the ceremony, the brothers participated in a brotherhood retreat that included goal setting for their first semester and reflecting upon the Principles of Sigma Tau Gamma.

Following the conclusion of the brotherhood retreat, the 23 Founding Fathers gathered on the Northwest Missouri State University campus for the Ritual of Initiation lead by the Installation Team.

The Theta Chapter was originally chartered April 2, 1927 and was active until 2011. â¨â¨Be sure to follow the chapters endeavors on Facebook and Twitter: facebook.com/SigTauNWMSU and @SigTauNWMSUâ¨â¨Theta provisional chapter
