During the Fall 2013 semester, Sigma Tau Gamma will expand to the University of Cincinnati. Sig Tau has never previously had a chapter at the University of Cincinnati.

This is a great expansion opportunity for Sig Tau, says Director of Expansion Michael Smoll, Delta ’03. “The University of Cincinnati is regarded as the premier leader in cooperative education and is nationally recognized for its academics. The fraternity and sorority community is very active on campus and in the community and has an excellent reputation.

The University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, has an enrollment of over 41,000 students. The University of Cincinnati, home of the Bearcats, is a NCAA Division 1 school in athletics and will compete in the newly formed American Athletic Conference. There are currently 19 active fraternities in the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and 9 active sororities in the Panhellenic Council (CPH).

Smoll visited the University of Cincinnati for the first pre-site visit last week. During the pre-site visit, Smoll met with the Greek Life staff and several IFC leaders and toured the campus. Sigma Tau Gamma Expansion Staff will return to campus this summer for an additional pre-site visit and will begin on campus recruitment efforts in the fall. Sigma Tau Gamma has had a long history in the state of Ohio which began with the chartering of the Iota Chapter at Kent State University in 1927.
