Sigma Tau Gamma Announces New CEO

CARMEL, INDIANA – The Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity Board of Directors announced at last evening’s National Stakeholders Call the hiring of Addison Schopp, Beta, Truman State University, as its new Chief Executive Officer. Schopp will follow W.P. “Buz” Barlow, Jr., Beta Mu, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, who has fulfilled an extended sabbatical commitment to the Fraternity and will return to his national law practice based in Dallas.
Brother Schopp has served Sig Tau in a number of capacities since his graduation from Truman in 2008. He immediately began his professional career as a Leadership Consultant serving on the Headquarters Staff of legendary CEO Bill Bernier, Iota, Kent State University. During his time on staff, the Fraternity’s membership grew significantly at existing and new chapters. New recruitment, risk management, communication and education programs were introduced under his leadership.
Six years later after rising to the position of Director of Chapter Development he transitioned to a now more than 10 year career with OmegaFi earning titles such as Director of Fraternity Relations, Senior Director of Partner Success and ultimately Vice President of Sales.
Since leaving our professional team, Addison has continued his Sig Tau service as current Secretary/Treasurer of the WPN National Housing Company, a Trustee of the Goetze Educational Foundation and advisor to the Epsilon Chi Chapter at Auburn University. All of this has lead him to become a respected voice in the Inter-fraternal world as a frequent presenter at fraternity/sorority industry conferences and events.
42nd National President Mike Van Camp, Delta Tau, Indiana State University, commented: “After a comprehensive and extensive national search, the Board and I are thrilled to welcome Brother Addison Schopp as our next CEO. He brings a unique blend of strategic vision, operational expertise and a passion for our core values. We are confident he will help Sigma Tau Gamma achieve new milestones of achievement while remaining steadfast in the commitment to our Principles of Learning, Integrity, Excellence, Leadership, Citizenship and Brotherhood.”
Schopp is excited about this once in a lifetime opportunity to again serve Sig Tau in a new way and declared, “I am honored to be chosen as the next Chief Executive in our Brotherhood’s 105 years. We have a well-known and rich history of shaping men into leaders who make a difference in their communities and the world. I look forward to working closely with our undergraduates, alumni and staff to build on this incredible legacy and chart a bold path for the future.”
The actual transfer of leadership will occur at the start of the next fiscal year on July 1st. In the coming months Barlow and Schopp will work together to ensure a smooth transition among all three of the operating companies and provide opportunities for members and friends to meet our new CEO.
