Bill was the Chapter Advisor for the Beta Chi Chapter of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He played a pivotal role in the history and success of this chapter. Those who knew him were aware of how hard he worked and the passion that he had for the fraternity.
WARRENSBURG, MISSOURI – Director of Advancement, Patrick Gotham, Salisbury ’09, has announced his departure from the Sigma Tau Gamma Headquarters Staff. He departs the staff to accept a position as a Development Officer at Framingham State University in Framingham, Massachusetts.
WARRENSBURG, MISSOURI – This past summer, Sigma Tau Gamma announced Ben Hopper, the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Kansas State University as the recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Interfraternal Leadership Award at the National Leadership Conference in Norfolk, Virginia. The award is presented to an Interfraternal partner who through mentorship aids in our endeavor to build a noble generations of men. The recipient also encourages the advancement of not only Sigma Tau Gamma but the broader fraternity movement through their actions and deeds. The recipient is selected from a pool of candidates and approved by the National Board of Directors.
CINCINNATI, OHIO – On Saturday, January 23, National President Alyx Parker, Illinois ’94, officially installed the Zeta Beta Chapter at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. The Zeta Beta Associate Chapter was installed on November 13, 2013. Since its inception, the chapter has initiated 55 men, 43 of whom are currently undergraduate members.
The chartering ceremony took place in the West Pavilion of Cincinnati’s Nippert Football Stadium with over one hundred people in attendance, including local alumni and more than two-dozen parents and family members.
WARRENSBURG, MISSOURI – CEO Emeritus William P. “Bill” Bernier of Warrensburg, Missouri has retired after nearly forty-two years of service to Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. His last day on staff was January 31, 2015. Bill Bernier accrued considerable distinction as the Chief Executive Officer of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity and Foundation, a vocational and leadership organization. Under the guidance of Bill Bernier, Kent State ’70, Sigma Tau Gamma initiated over 35,000 new members and installed 51 chapters across the nation.
SPEARFISH, SOUTH DAKOTA – On Tuesday, November 3, 2015, the Lambda Chapter of Sigma Tau Gamma was re-installed as a new Provisional Chapter in Spearfish, SD. The Provisional Chapter Installation and Officers Installation Ceremony was held in the Jonas Academic Building and welcomed 10 Re-Founding Fathers. The ceremony was conducted by Recruitment and Growth Coordinator Dean Anderson, Purdue ’12. Also in attendance for the ceremony were members of the Student Activities staff and friends of the Re-Founding Fathers.
KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN – On Friday, October 30, 2015, Sigma Tau Gamma – Western Michigan University, Chi Chapter was re-installed as a new Provisional Chapter in Kalamazoo, MI. The Provisional Chapter Installation and Officers Installation Ceremony was held in the Bernhard Center and welcomed
22 Re-Founding Fathers. The ceremony was conducted by Recruitment and Growth Coordinator Dean Anderson, Purdue ’12, and the newly appointed Chapter Advisory Team Lead Advisor Chadwick Kern, Michigan Tech ’08. Also in attendance for the ceremony were members of the Fraternity and Sorority Life Staff; parents and friends of Re-Founding Fathers; and members from Western Michigan’s Phi Gamma Delta, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, and Delta Zeta chapters.
BELLEVILLE, IL – On Friday, September 11, 2015, Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity installed a Provisional Chapter at Lindenwood University Belleville in Belleville, IL. The Provisional Chapter Installation and Officers Installation Ceremony welcomed 15 Founding Fathers to Sigma Tau Gamma. The ceremony was conducted by Summer Intern Nicholas Cropley, Washington ’14 and Director of Member and Organizational Development Erik Kahl, UW-La Crosse ’07. Frank Shadwell, SIU-Edwardsville ’14 and Lindenwood-Belleville’s Assistant Director for Student Life Corey Ellzey also were present for the ceremony.
September 2, 2015 – On August 29, 2015, the Gamma Zeta Chapter at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona held their Re-Chartering Ceremony and welcomed 28 brothers to Sigma Tau Gamma. University officials and family members of Brothers joined for the special occasion along with Chief Executive Officer Steve Latour, National President Alyx Parker, Illinois ’94, Vice President of the Foundation Shawn Kelley, UW-River Falls ’93, Foundation Trustee Joe Feldhouse, Cleveland State ’57, and Director of Member and Organizational Development Erik Kahl, UW-La Crosse ’07.

Charles J. Marr, Edinboro Hon., 69, died May 15, 2015 in Florida, where he and his wife, Debbie, had been spending winters in recent years. Charlie was our 27th national president (1992-94) and a significant leader in Sigma Tau Gamma at both the local and national levels for 36 years.
Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity welcomes Joshua Marshall, Central Missouri ’12, and Jesse Cromer, Central Missouri ’13, as Collegiate Services Summer Interns. They will be assisting the Headquarters Staff with a variety of projects from expansion to communications.
